Back in the 90’s, Tim Curry scared the pants off kids everywhere as Pennywise in Stephen King’s It. In retrospect, though, Curry’s portrayal of the dancing clown really wasn’t that frightening. If anything, his performance was actually kind of hilarious.

Tim Curry as Pennywise in the 1990 TV adaptation of Stephen King’s It. Admit it, he was pretty funny.

A feature-length reboot of It is currently in production with Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise. Based on the first image of Pennywise, which was posted by Entertainment Weekly, it would appear the character has been given a serious upgrade.

Given the petrifying nature of the picture above, it looks like this big screen adaptation is on the right track for an R rating. It’s also been reported that the film may be split into two parts, much like how the 1990 miniseries.

What do you think? Will this remake sink or will it float? In any case, we’re confident Skarsgård’s performance will be no laughing matter.

It hits theaters on September 8, 2017.
