The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building up Thanos ever since he made a cameo in the post-credits of The Avengers. Although his screen time’s been brief, Thanos has been collecting the Infinity Stones and will play a crucial role in Avengers: Infinity War.

Stephen McFeely, one of the screenwriters for Infinity War, recently talked to The Huffington Post about the villain and living up to expectations.

“He hasn’t had an amazing scene. I think it’s an advantage ultimately, right?” said McFeely. “Because people are anticipating this guy coming in and really delivering the goods.”

“You know, he’s never been the villain in any of the movies,” McFeely added. “He’s never been the main character in that way, so giving lots of screen time to Thanos is paramount and pretty fun.”

Can Josh Brolin’s Thanos possibly live up to the hype? Find out when Avengers: Infinity War – Part I hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
