Jake Gyllenhaal will be trying his hand at another video game to movie adaptation, with the news (via Variety) that he will produce and star in a Tom Clancy’s The Division movie. The game on which the film will be based was released earlier this year in March, and has already become Ubisoft’s fastest-selling product. So it seems fairly obvious to make a movie adaptation.

Movie adaptations haven’t been doing so well this year though, which isn’t a huge surprise, but The Division might not…

Jake Gyllenhaal has been enjoying what looks like a highpoint in his career. Not only did he get attention for his portrayal of a committed detective in last year’s excellent thriller Prisoners, but he is also riding high with his performance in Nightcrawler, one that is already creeping into best-of-the-year lists. When tackling a film like David Gordon Green’s Stronger, certain aspects need to be refined; it must treat the real life source with respect and honesty. At the same time exuding a sense of humour and solid performances to break the predictability of events in which we already know the outcome. Green’s somber look at Boston Marathon bombing victim, Jeff Bauman successfully hits all aforementioned requirements, bringing us an inspiring, moving drama that’s elevated by Jake Gyllenhaal’s…

I very much appreciate your review, but you praise the director and the actors, but not the source - THE SCREENWRITER. It is only because the script is well written that JAKE and TATIANA, etc. are able to render these great characters The "heart" and "soul" of the film originate with the script. So do the range of emotions portrayed, ranging from "visceral" to "hilarity."

  • Life Review

Heavily influenced by Alien, though somewhat too closely at times, it’s in the antagonist of the piece where such similarities are effective, for we have no way of understanding Calvin, and what it’s capable of.

Ford’s second turn in Hollywood is a picture supported by its ultra talented A-List cast. Amy Adams stars as introspective art dealer Susan Morrow. She’s on her second marriage, worries that her mother’s cynicism has cursed her life and she can’t seem to…
