Didn’t feel like you got enough from Star Wars: The Force Awakens the first time round? Good news for you then, as we’ve discovered that the DVD and Blu-ray will feature 7 deleted scenes – or at least, there’ll probably be 7.

Speaking with the Independent, Mary Jo Markey and Maryann Brandon – the film’s editors – spoke about the movie and deleted scenes. Markey said, ‘I think there are maybe seven or eight, I don’t know if that’s a lot. I remember looking at the reel. Actually, I think there are seven.’

But just what should we expect from those deleted scenes? Brandon elaborated: ‘There’s one with Harrison Ford, there’s one with Rey… I honestly think that what is in the film is exactly what needs to be in the film, and what isn’t remains fun but not necessary… That’s always the goal, to get it down to its essence.’

Markey and Brandon are nominated for Oscars for Best Editing on Star Wars; fingers crossed they win at this Sunday’s ceremony. As for the home release of The Force Awakens, we’ll have to wait until later this year as there’s no definite date set.
