Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story won’t get a sequel.

Kennedy told Empire Magazine that regardless of how well Rogue One performs at the box office, the studio has no plans to create a follow-up film.

Director Gareth Edwards made similar comments, suggesting that the sequel is effectively the original 1977 Star Wars and is already “directed by George Lucas.”
