After Kong: Skull Island moved from Universal to Warner Bros., it was revealed that the film would be part of a cinematic universe that followed the same continuity of 2014’s Godzilla. Little had been revealed about the film’s plot or characters until now.
MTV recently got a sneak peak of the film’s set, where the cast revealed that the story takes place during the Vietnam era. The plot centers around “a group of explorers who set off on an adventure to a previously uncharted island.” As you likely expected, the island is overrun with “mythic beasts that come into their midsts, and they have to get off the island alive.”
Oscar-winner Brie Larson will play Weaver, a photojournalist and peace activist. Tom Hiddleston also stars as Captain James Conrad and Jason Mitchell will play Glenn Mill, a helicopter pilot.
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, Kong: Skull Island hits theaters on March 10, 2017.
