Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian Murray McKellen are not returning for the Days of Future Past sequel, Stewart has revealed in an interview with Larry King Now. He said he’d learned that X-Men: Apocalypse will focus on “the earlier lives of all our characters… And so I don’t think we’ll be making an appearance.” Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg, who directed and wrote Days of Future Past, respectively, will be returning for X-Men: Apocalypse however. The film is set in the 1980s with a scheduled release date of May 27, 2016.
