M. Night Shyamalan, one of the world’s most divisive directors, is returning to horror with The Visit, which now has an official release date of September 11, 2015. From the plot description so far, we can tell that The Visit will be a psychological thriller in some respect; when a brother and sister are sent to a remote farm in Pennsylvania to see their grandparents for a week, they soon discover that grandma and grandpa are up to something dark, nasty, and rather troubling – before realising that they may end up being there longer than a week themselves. The movie, which was originally titled Sundowning, has already finished shooting, and will hopefully mark a return to form for Shyamalan. He first came to everyone’s attention with The Sixth Sense in 1999 and Unbreakable in 2000, before every subsequent movie dropped significantly in overall quality (his last two movies were The Last Airbender and After Earth, both critical flops), so fingers crossed that The Visit will see some of his genius surface once more.
