Even though his introduction in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was brief and less than badass than what the casting of Jason Momoa would promise, director James Wan – known for Insidious, The Conjuring, and Fast & Furious 7 – has revealed in an interview with Uproxxx that he chose to do Aquaman intead of the Flash.

Both movies have been planned by Warner Bros., and Wan explains that the studio gave him the option to direct one of them. Wan says that he chose Aquaman thusly: ‘the thing that ultimately pushed me more towards Aquaman is I love the possibility of creating a whole new world.’ That’s exactly what we like to hear. The director also went on to say that while he loves the Flash, ‘I’ve always wanted to do a world creation story and visually create this amazing, incredible, magical kingdom… and also, I love the fact that Aquaman is an underdog character. I love the fact that people like to make fun of him. [Laughs].’

We’re certain that Wan will create a visually sumptuous world for Aquaman to rule over by the time it’s released on July 27, 2018.
