Each day that we get closer to the monumental release that is Star Wars: The Force Awakens on December 18 this year, anticipation hits a new high. The last few months have seen lots of rumours concerning the plot and characters of the new movie, some serving as no more than pure conjecture, while others have deeper roots in fact. In an interview with the BBC, the director J.J. Abrams was asked about the truth concerning such rumours surrounding his film. His answer follows:

‘We did the best we can to preserve the story for the audience, but it doesn’t always work.

… There are a ton of rumours – some true, some false. But I’m grateful for everyone who would want to read a spoiler because it means that they care and want to see the movie.

… I know what it feels like, as an enormous Star Wars fan myself.’

Of course, this leaves the question wide open as to just which of those rumours are true, and which aren’t. We may have to wait and see until December 18 near the end of this year. But regardless of the rumour mill, Abrams did have this very positive thing to say:

‘I can’t wait for you to see it. It’s been a blast working on this and luckily we have an incredible post-production team.’
