The production for Fast 8 is well under-way with Dwayne Johnson on board but could his popular character, Luke Hobbs, be set to have his own spin-off?
In an interview with Comicbook, producer Hiram Garcia revealed there is “a hundred percent” chance of a spin-off movie featuring Hobbs:
“I think there’s always been conversations for that, the scheduling of it all is a challenge but there are always talks about a potential spin-off movie and what we can do with it.”
Garcia then spoke of the popularity of Johnson’s character:
“He’s a beloved enough character that they’d love to see what a ride with him would be like in his world. We have tons of history that we’ve crafted for this guy that we continue to sprinkle in throughout the movies.”
This comes after The Rock himself also revealed his interest in a standalone movie:
“We all are interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we’ll see.”
So a spin-off film certainly seems likely, but until then we can see Dwayne Johnson in the upcoming sequel Fast & Furious 8, which races onto screens in April 2017.
