Benedict Cumberbatch will voice The Grinch; Trey Parker cast in Despicable Me 3

Benedict Cumberbatch will go from Doctor Strange to Dr. Seuss, as he will be voicing The Grinch in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, a new animated version of the Dr. Seuss classic. Pete Candeland and Yarrow Cheney are on directing duties. Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas is set for a November 10, 2017 release.

Illumination Entertainment also announced at Universal’s CinemaCon presentation, that they have cast Trey Parker of South Park fame, to play the villain Balthazar Bratt, “a former child star who’s grown up to become obsessed with the character he played in the ’80s” in Despicable Me 3 (via Variety). Despicable Me 3 will come out June 30, 2017, with Steve Carell returning to his role as the voice of Gru.
