Game of Thrones: Season Six finale sets record

Games of Thrones just keeps getting bigger and bigger. The 69-miunte season six finale of HBO’s Emmy-winning fantasy drama set a new record, attracting 8.9 million viewers.

According to Nielsen (via The New York Times), this is the largest audience the show has ever had, surpassing the 8.1 million viewers that tuned into the season five finale. Through on-demand and online streaming, Game of Thrones is also notably averaging 23.3 views, according to USA Today. That’s a 15% increase from last year’s ratings.
