Edge of Tomorrow was one of 2014’s most pleasant surprises. A followup to the acclaimed sci-fi film is officially in development and has now found a couple writers.

According to Deadline, the sequel will be written by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse. The two previously wrote the screenplay for Race, a biopic about Jesse Owens. They also worked on an adaptation for Circle of Treason and rewrites for The Grey Man.

Although Edge of Tomorrow wasn’t a gigantic box office hit, it did receive rave reviews from critics and made a solid $370.5 million on a $178 million budget. The film has been finding a wider following and it’s great to see that the studio is taking a chance on a sequel. We’d much rather see Edge of Tomorrow spawn a franchise than see three more Transformers movies.
