Ant-Man and the Wasp Director Jokes About R-rated Superhero Movies

The R-rated Deadpool has become a surprise mega hit for 20th Century Fox and now Wolverine 3 is likely to go for an R-rating as well. On top of that, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to get an R-rated Director’s Cut on Blu-ray. Peyton Reed, who will be directing Ant-Man and the Wasp, decided to have some fun with this R-rated superhero trend with the following tweet:

As you can probably guess, Reed was merely joking. However, his tweet did gain the attention of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, who had this to say:

With Disney running the show, it’s highly unlikely we’ll ever see a hard R film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though. As awesome as Deadpool was, not all superhero movies need to be super dark.
