    Pennywise the Clown looks terrifying in first look at costume

    Last month, we got our first look at the new, upgraded Pennywise the Clown from the reboot of Stephen King’s It. And now we have our first glimpse of the costume he will wear and it’s terrifying.

    26-year-old Bill Skarsgård takes over from Tim Curry who played the role in the 90’s original series, and you can see Skarsgård in costume for the first time below via Entertainment Weekly:

    Pennywise is now adopting a monochrome harlequin-inspired outfit, which is very different to Curry’s appearance from 1990.

    Costume designer Janie Bryant went into detail about the changes:

    “The costume definitely incorporates all these otherworldly past lives, if you will. He is definitely a clown from a different time.”

    “The pompoms are orange, and then with the trim around the cuffs and the ankles, it’s basically a ball fringe that’s a combination of orange, red, and cinnamon. It’s almost like Pennywise fades into his environment. But there are accents to pull out the definition of the grey silk. It makes him almost like a shadow.”

    And we can Skarsgård in action as Pennywise the Clown when It, helmed by Andrés Muschietti, hits screens in September, 2017.

    Gone Girl
    Still yet to fully impress following his Oscar triumph with Argo, at long last Ben Affleck is ready to present something extremely worthwhile – taking on the leading role in David Fincher’s Gone Girl. To join the renowned pair is Rosamund Pike and Neil Patrick Harris, as they bring this immensely popular Gillian Flynn novel to the big screen. Fans of the book will be encouraged to hear that the author herself is penning the screenplay, while fans of cinema in general will be fervently anticipating what should be another Fincher gem.

    Fury
    With few stand out films currently in the frame for a Best Picture nod at next year’s Academy Awards, a dark horse comes in the form of the Brad Pitt-starring Fury, where he appears alongside Shia LaBeouf in David Ayer’s World War Two drama. The director’s latest flick Sabotage was a bitter disappointment, but if he can regain the form shown in End of Watch, we could be in for something rather special.

    Serena
    With a chemistry that illuminated the screen in the multiple award winning Silver Lining’s Playbook – not to mention teaming up again in American Hustle – Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence are now set for yet another collaboration, this time in the form of moving period drama Serena. With the innovative director Susanne Bier at the helm, and given we’re exploring a fascinating time in American history – the Depression era – here’s hoping we’re set to witness another triumphant coming together for these two stars.

    Horns
    The premise of a young man awaking one day to discover he has horns should make for intriguing cinematic territory, as a surrealistic, supernatural theme interwoven into a real life setting. Daniel Radcliffe plays that very young man, starring opposite Juno Temple and Heather Graham in Alexandre Aja’s unique feature. A film that, to be frank, will hopefully be better than his last endeavour, the somewhat forgettable Piranha 3D.

    Mr. Turner
    Having picked up Best Actor in Cannes Film Festival for his efforts, it seems that Timothy Spall has waited until now to turn in his career best performance, embodying that of the renowned British painter J.W. Turner – which is certainly something. Alongside his loyal collaborator Mike Leigh, the pair are living proof that we can get better with age, as this belter is as impressive on the eye as it is remarkably acted.
