Maleficent 2 and Eight More Films Announced by Disney

Disney has announced a sequel to 2014’s Maleficent with Angelina Jolie reprising her role as the Mistress of All Evil turned antihero. In addition to Maleficent 2, Disney confirmed eight more live-action films in the works.

Emma Stone has been cast in Cruella, Tim Burton will be giving us his take on Dumbo, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is on board for Jungle Cruise, director Jon Favreau is returning for The Jungle Book 2, Rob Marshall will be helming a sequel to Mary Poppins, Safe Haven’s Lasse Hallstrom is set to direct The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, Reese Witherspoon is starring in a Tinker Bell movie, and Ava DuVernay of Selma is bringing A Wrinkle in Time to the big screen.

It’s unknown when exactly each of these projects will hit theaters. According to Deadline, however, Disney has reserved release dates for July 28, 2017, April 6, 2018, August 3, 2018, December 25, 2018, and December 20, 2019.
