The Hollywood Reporter says that Del Toro would reunite with David S. Goyer, who previously wrote and produced Blade II. Goyer has since worked on a number of superhero films, including the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The original Fantastic Voyage was one of the best-looking sci-fi films of the 1960’s, taking audiences inside a human body via a shrinking submarine. Given his reputation as a visionary filmmaker, Del Toro sounds like the perfect director to helm this reboot. Of course he may be too busy if Pacific Rim 2 ever gets off the ground.
