Ever since the brilliant sitcom Community ended in 2015, fans have wondered if Abed’s premonition will come true, following up the show’s six seasons with a movie. Although creator Dan Harmon is busy with other projects like Rick and Morty, he hasn’t given up hope that a Community movie will happen someday.

Speaking with TheWrap, Harmon seemed optimistic that a movie could still get off the ground, although The Russo Brothers likely wouldn’t be involved since they’re committed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I keep having conversations with the kinds of people that could make it happen. The Russo brothers moved from Community to becoming industry shapers. So did one of our most popular directors, Justin Lin, who directed the first paintball episode.”

Lin has also notably directed blockbusters like Fast Five. Harmon additionally said that Lin “in particular has always been jazzed about the idea of doing a Community movie.”

Not too long ago, Flickreel published a feature about whether the MCU could be building towards a Community movie. That would be one way to get The Russo Brothers involved.
