After directing Interstellar, Inception, and The Dark Knight trilogy, one would expect somebody like Christopher Nolan to restrict his filmmaker career to multi-million dollar blockbusters. According to The Film Stage, however, Nolan’s next directorial outing will be a documentary about Stephen and Timothy Quay. The Brother’s Quay are identical twins that have made numerous stop-motion shorts. They additionally made two feature films, Institute Benjamenta, or This Dream People Call Human Life and The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes.

The brothers are among Nolan’s favorite filmmakers and he says that his documentary, which will be entitled Quay, will focus on “the inner workings of the Brothers’ studio.” Film Forum notes that the documentary can be seen on August 19th in New York City. The film will be shown along with three of the Quay’s shorts, Absentia, The Comb, and Street of Crocodiles. Nolan himself will also be present to talk about Quay.
