Since their Spider-Man cinematic universe didn’t work out, Sony has been pushing the Ghostbusters franchise to fill the void. Paul Feig’s reboot is set to come out in 2016 and an all-male Ghostbusters movie is also in development. Now Variety says that Sony Pictures Animation has an animated Ghostbusters film in the works. Ivan Reitman, who directed the original comedy classic, will act as a producer while SPA president Kristine Belson and Michael Lachance will oversee the film. It sounds like a promising project, but can it really live up to the greatness of The Real Ghostbusters cartoon show?

On another note, Sony also has an animated Spider-Man film in the works from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller of The Lego Movie.
