It was recently confirmed that Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander would be starring as Lara Croft in WB’s upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. Now the project has an official release date.
According to Variety, the action adventure flick will hit theaters on March 16, 2018. Directed by Roar Uthaug, this reboot will be an origin story for Lara and take a page from Square Enix’s recent interpretation of the hit video game franchise.
Vikander as Croft certainly sounds like a promising casting choice, although video game movies still haven’t hit their stride. Even if Tomb Raider ends up being a dud, though, maybe it will still find an audience in China.
