Mace Windu supposedly fell to his death in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. According to Samuel L. Jackson, however, his character is still alive.

On Twitter, Jackson was asked who decided to kill Mace Windu. Jackson responded with a video, discussing his thoughts on his character’s fate.

Jackson claims towards the end of the video that Mace Windu could’ve survived the fall and getting his hand chopped off.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Jackson stated, “Jedi can fall from amazing distances. And there’s a long history of one-handed Jedi. So why not?”

Although it was George Lucas’ idea to kill Mace Windu, Jackson says that the creator of Star Wars is open to the idea of the Jedi Master still being alive. “George is like, ‘I’m okay with that. You can be alive.’”

Jackson also pointed out, however, that “George doesn’t have anything to do with it anymore.”

So it’s up to Disney to decide Mace Windu’s ultimate fate. Actually, that could make a great Star Wars spinoff movie! Mace Windu: After the Fall.
