Ridley Scott and George Miller Among 2016 DGA Nominees

The Director’s Guild of America have announced their annual nominees, showing love for Ridley Scott’s The Martian and George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road. In addition to the primary Best Director category, the DGA also introduced a new category this year for first-time filmmakers. Check out the full list of nominees below:

Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film

Alejandro G, Iñárritu: The Revenant
Tom McCarthy: Spotlight
Adam McKay: The Big Short
George Miller: Mad Max: Fury Road
Ridley Scott: The Martian

Outstanding Directorial Achievement of a First-Time Feature Film

Fernando Coimbra: A Wolf at the Door
Joel Edgerton: The Gift
Alex Garland: Ex Machina
Marielle Heller: The Diary of a Teenage Girl
Laszlo Nemes: Son of Saul

Based on the DGA line up, it’s safe to say that The Revenant, Spotlight, The Big Short, Mad Max: Fury Road, and The Martian should receive major love on Thursday when the Academy announces their nominees.
