Composer Alan Menken won two of his eight Oscars for Disney’s animated classic, Beauty and the Beast. Menken will be returning to compose the music for Disney’s 2017 live-action remake. Songs from the original film will be included, although Menken has told Entertainment Weekly that no songs from the Broadway version of Beauty and the Beast made the cut.

“(None) of the songs from the Broadway made the film,” said Menken. “I would’ve taken If I Can’t Love Her, but the problem is that was made for a very specific moment to end Act I of the Broadway show.”

Menken added that they’ve written “a new song with Tim Rice. There’s actually three new songs written for the movie. It’s called Forever More, and there’s also a song called Days in the Sun.”

Currently set to come out on March 17, 2017, Beauty and the Beast will star Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast. Until then, we’ve got the live-action remake of The Jungle Book to look forward to in 2016. How do you feel about all these recent live-action Disney remakes?
