Director Neill Blomkamp will bring Rebecca “Newt” Jordan back from the dead for Alien 5.
Newt died in Alien 3, but Blomkamp has teased her return with the following concept art image he posted on Instagram:
Blomkamp posted the picture to coincide with Alien Day. The image shows Newt in her 20s, while her military guise suggests she might follow the footsteps of fellow character Corporal Hicks.
Late last year, Michael Biehn who plays Hicks said “They’re planning on bringing me and Newt back. And at this point Newt will be around twenty-seven years old. I know that every actress in Hollywood is going to want to play this one, it’s really a passing of the torch between Sigourney and this younger actress who would play Newt.”
While Yesterday, Sigourney Weaver said that Alien 5 is still on track to go ahead and has an “amazing script”. Expect more updates soon.
