The long-time servants of the series are back for Bond 25

While we still don’t know too much about the state of play regarding the next installment in the James Bond franchise, we now have our first bit of news that the 25th film in the series is slowly getting into gear with news from Baz Bamigboye of The Daily Mail stating that screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade will be back to write the new adventure.

The duo have been part of the franchise since 1999’s The World Is Not Enough and have since worked on Die Another Day, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and, most recently, Spectre, released in 2015.

Now the attention will turn to star Daniel Craig and the continued “will-he-won’t-he” saga that has surrounded him since Spectre. The star has yet to give any definitive answer on whether he will return as 007 again or if, as he spoken about before, he will hang up his suit and martini. One person not returning is director Sam Mendes, who helmed Skyfall and Spectre, who has publicly stated he has finished with the franchise.

Craig currently has four appearances as Bond and if he does indeed return, he will tie with Pierce Brosnan on five. If Craig doesn’t return, the character will surely be rebooted again and the hunt will begin to find a replacement, with names such as Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hardy, Jamie Bell, James Norton and Michael Fassbender linked at one time or another.
