While this shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, HBO’s Michael Lombardo has now officially announced that Game of Thrones will be getting a seventh season. Season 6 of the Emmy-winning drama series airs on April 24 along with Veep and Silicon Valley, both of which have also been renewed for another season.

Game of Thrones Season 7 will air in 2017. However, it’s still unknown if the season will consist of the standard ten episodes or less. It’s possible that seasons 7 and 8 will be shortened, amounting to about 13 more episodes altogether.
