Ever since Howard the Duck made a post-credits cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy, fans have wondered if director James Gunn had plans for a movie about the obscure comic book character. This seemed even more likely after Howard resurfaced in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Alas, it appears Gunn isn’t making a Howard the Duck film any time soon.

Gunn cleared things up on Twitter, stating, “There is NO Howard the Duck movie at the present time. There are a lot of comic characters I love but I’m not making films of them all.”

While Gunn didn’t totally shoot down the possibility of a Howard the Duck movie, it’s obviously not a top priority for him or Marvel as of now. In any case, we could certainly use an alternative to the George Lucas version from the 80s.
