On the heels of Mad Max: Fury Road, everyone is eager to know what Director George Miller’s next project would be. We all got excited when rumors surfaced about Miller directing Man of Steel 2, but he has since denied his involvement in that project.

Where Miller directing Man of Steel 2 was apparently never even on the table, Miller did meet with Warner Bros. to potentially helm the live-action adaptation of Akira. While that sounds like a match made in heaven, Miller recently told Yahoo Movies that he is no longer involved.

“There was talk of it,” Miller said, “But I’ve got so many things on my dance card, I don’t have the time to do everything.”

Miller went on to deny the accusations that Akira was the influence for Mad Max: Fury Road.

“I don’t know where that came from,” he said. “I’m a huge fan of anime and the precision of that and to some degree Manga, even though I don’t read Japanese, but just the aesthetic of it. So Akira might have been one of the many movies but it certainly wasn’t one that directly influenced Mad Max.”

So Miller may be out, but could Christopher Nolan be in? Let’s hope so!
