According to the Hollywood Reporter, Fox could write off over $60 million due to Fantastic Four’s flop in its box office debut. The movie took in an estimated $26.2 million, roughly $4 to $14 million below expectations.

However despite the poor reviews and financial losses, a sequel is still on the cards…

“Everything I’ve heard would indicate that the studio will move forward with a Fantastic Four sequel,” Drew McWeeny of HitFix reports. “It may not make that original 2017 date, but they’re definitely planning to make it.”

One thing’s for sure, Fantastic Four 2 will have to be miles better than the first if it’s to win audiences back around.
