The long-awaited sequel to Blade Runner has been in the news a lot lately, but audiences have yet to learn when they might actually see the film. According to Variety, however, the sci-fi followup will finally hit theaters on January 12, 2018.

Harrison Ford will return as Rick Deckard, who’s been confirmed to be a Replicant, and Ryan Gosling is also set to star. Sony has acquired the film’s international distribution rights, but Warner Bros. will handle its domestic release.

With Denis Villeneuve of Sicario directing, Blade Runner 2 begins filming this July. The script is based on an idea conceived by Hampton Francher and Ridely Scott, who wishes he was directing this sequel to his iconic 1982 film.
