David Fincher’s 2011 adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was a critical hit and a modest box office success. It even earned Rooney Mara an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Lisbeth Salander. Almost four years later, though, there’s still need no word about The Girl Who Played With Fire or The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest going into production.

Now TheWrap is reporting that Alicia Vikander of Ex Machina may be taking over the role of Lisbeth in a reboot. The film would be entitled, The Girl in the Spider’s Web, and be based on the fourth novel in Stieg Larsson’s Millennium series. Steven Knight of Locke is in negotiation to write the script with Scott Rudin and Amy Pascal producing. Elizabeth Cantillon would oversee the project for Sony Pictures. There’s still no word on who would direct or who would take over the role of Mikael Blomkvist for Daniel Craig.

What do you think? Would you rather see Vikander play Lisbeth or Mara finish what she started?
