Alan Rickman’s Death Stopped Galaxy Quest 2

Alan Rickman is an actor we lost far too soon, but at least he left a rich legacy behind. We’ll always remember him for playing Hans Gruber in Die Hard, Severus Snape in the Harry Potter franchise, and Alexander Dane in the cult comedy Galaxy Quest.

A sequel to Galaxy Quest was actually being developed with Amazon. Sam Rockwell informed Nerdist, however, that his co-star’s untimely death put an end to the project.

“They were going to do a sequel on Amazon, and we were ready to sign up for it, and Alan Rickman passed away, and Tim Allen wasn’t available — he has a show — and everybody’s schedule was all weird,” he stated.

Rockwell went on to say, “How do you fill that void of Alan Rickman? That’s a hard void to fill.”

As much as we would’ve loved to see a Galaxy Quest sequel, it admittedly wouldn’t be the same without Rickman. After all, nobody else could master a line like, “By Grabthar’s hammer.”

Rickman can currently be seen in Eye in the Sky, one of the last movies he finished filming before his death.
