The Oscars have shortlisted 9 pictures for this year’s Best Foreign Language Film category. Easily the most surprising omission here is The Assassin, although it’s unlikely anything can beat Son of Saul anyway. Check out the full list below:

Denmark: A War
Finland: The Fencer
France: Mustang
Germany: Labyrinth of Lies
Hungary: Son of Saul
Ireland: Viva
Jordan: Theeb
