If you’ve been predicting Dunkirk or The Shape of Water to win the Oscar for Best Picture, the SAG nominations might make you reconsider. Both films were snubbed from Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. The Revenant and La La Land were left out of this category in the past, indicating their Best Picture victories weren’t as guaranteed as some initially assumed.

The films that did make it into the Outstanding Cast race are The Big Sick, Get Out, Lady Bird, Mudbound, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, which lead with the most film nominations. This might make Three Billboards the one to beat on Oscar night, especially if it performs well at the other Guild awards and BAFTA.

The Post and Phantom Thread were strangely shut out entirely, but that might be because they weren’t screened in time for consideration. So they aren’t out of the Oscar race yet either.
