Recently, tensions reportedly grew between Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Vin Diesel, and now the battle continues as Diesel has revealed that Johnson was not his first choice for the role of Hobbs in the Fast & Furious franchise.

Diesel told fans on Facebook that the role was originally written for Tommy Lee Jones:

“Back in the fifth film, I was asking ‘Who should I work with?’ The reason why we brought Dwayne Johnson into Fast Five was because of you.

“There was a girl named Jen (maybe, Jan?) Kelly who said, ‘I would love to see you guys work together on-screen.’ And so, we gave a role that was initially written for Tommy Lee Jones but we gave it to Dwayne.”

‘We gave a role that was initially written for Tommy Lee Jones but we gave it to Dwayne.’

It’s unlikely that Diesel meant any offence to the comments but it’s not completely out of question after recent ongoings between the pair. The feud reportedly began when The Rock labelled his male co-stars as ‘candy-asses’ and unprofessional whilst finishing the shoot on Fast 8:

And according to TMZ, Vin Diesel was the main target of this rant:

‘We’re told The Rock has butted heads with Vin during the production, in part because V.D. is a producer and has made decisions that didn’t sit well with the former wrestling champ,’

The site also claims that they had a crisis meeting, because tensions were running so high between the pair.

Hopefully the film won’t suffer as a result and we can find out when F. Gary Gray’s Fast 8 crashes into theaters on April 14, 2017.
