Thor: Ragnarok could introduce the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first major female villain. Sources tell Variety that Cate Blanchett is in talks for the role, confirming recent rumors.
Blanchett’s character is still unknown, but Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are returning to reprise their roles as Thor and Loki, respectively. Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk will also make an appearance.
It will be interesting to see the level of talent and esteem Blanchett brings to the MCU. She just received Golden Globe and SAG nominations for Carol.
Taika Waiti (What We Do in the Shadows) will helm Thor: Ragnarok, which is set to release on November 3, 2017.
