Director David Ayer has responded to the negative reviews of his film, Suicide Squad.

Although we actually rather liked it, most critics have slammed DC’s latest movie, with an average score on Rotten Tomatoes of just 35%.

Ayer was quick to respond to the critics with a couple of tweets, the first he wrote in Spanish:

He used a quote from Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata, which translates in English to:

“I’d prefer to die on my feet than to live on my knees.”

Ayer then followed up his quote with another tweet defending the film:

Yesterday, Ayer apologized for his anti-Marvel outburst, after Marvel fans were unhappy with his insult. Well, he may now also have DC fans on his back if the reviews are anything to go by. And DC can’t afford another repeat of Batman v Superman.

But we’ll find out what the fans think and how it does financially at the box-office when Suicide Squad hits theaters on Friday.
