The British firm Foodles Production Ltd have been fined £1.6 million over the accident involving Harrison Ford on the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Ford broke his left leg when a malfunctioning hydraulic metal door crashed onto it. He also suffered a “deep laceration” to his left hand, which required plastic surgery. The accident happened in June 2014 at Pinewood Studios.

Foodles Production, who Disney own, were charged with two breaches of health and safety regulations and must now pay the fine.

During the case, it was revealed that Ford was lucky not to have been killed during the incident. According to the Guardian, Judge Francis Sheridan said:

“The greatest failing of all on behalf on the company is a lack of communication, a lack because, if you have a risk assessment and you do not communicate it, what is the point of having one.”

Ford thankfully made the full recovery and of course finished the shoot to play Han Solo in The Force Awakens.
