Space Jam director Joe Pytka thinks a sequel to the live-action/animation sports film is a bad idea.

Pytka had some strong words for Lebron James, who’s set to star in the sequel. “Don’t do it. It’s doomed,” Pytka told THR. “Michael Jordan was the biggest star on the planet.”

He went onto recap the success of the original:

“When we did Space Jam, there was a perfect storm of players and ex-players available — Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing,” said Pytka. “They all had a persona that complemented the film. There are none around like that now.”

Star Trek: Beyond‘s Justin Lin is in talks to direct Space Jam 2.
