Holy rumour mill, Batman !!

The internet can be a funny place with rumours and conjecture about all sorts of things, not least films and in particular superhero films. Last week, there was such a rumour doing the rounds on 4chan that Warner Bros and DC Films were planning a huge celebration of Batman’s 80th anniversary with SIX films planned for release in 2019. Well, it seems that it was just that and that DC head honcho Geoff Johns has poked fun at the rumours. (via JoBlo)

The leak suggested that WB and DC were planning to expand their DCEU even further in 2019 and were planning to release Matt Reeves’ The Batman, Gotham City Sirens (directed by David Ayer), Joss Whedon’s newly-announced Batgirl film and Nightwing, which has yet to secure a director. In addition,  Suicide Squad 2 being geared to the same year and perhaps one more, as well as James Wan’s Aquaman being released in November 2018.

On the rumours, Johns took to Twitter to address them:

The next DC/WB film, Wonder Woman, arrives in cinemas on June 2nd before Justice League is released on November 17th.
