Ridley Scott in talks to direct The Prisoner movie adaptation

​Ridley Scott is in talks to direct a big-screen version of 1960s cult TV show The PrisonerDeadline reports that The Martian director is in early negotiations to helm the film.

The TV series focused on prisoner Number Six, a former government agent trapped in an isolated and eerie village. No casting announcements have been made as of yet but Universal who own the rights will make have casting decisions to make soon.

Drafts for the film’s screenplay have previously been worked on by Edge of Tomorrow‘s Christopher McQuarrie and The Departed‘s William Monahan. In the meantime, Scott’s next project is Prometheus sequel Alien: Covenant.
