Rian Johnson teases Star Wars 8 title

Star Wars Episode 8 director Rian Johnson has known the film’s title from the very start.

Fans of the franchise have had to wait patiently for Star Wars 8 reveals, much longer than The Force Awakens, which had its title and trailer released at an earlier stage.

With Episode 8 arriving later this year, a trailer and title can’t be too far off now, however Johnson admits he’s known the title all along:

“It was in the very first draft I wrote,” he told USA Today, joking: “I’ll just blurt it out right now. All in good time, my friend.”

He did give some info on where the story will pickup from though:

“I don’t want to skip ahead two years. I want to see the very next moment of what happens. Part of what [Rey’s] dealing with is the realisation that she has this power and this gift. She’s taking her first step to coming to terms with this thing inside her that she never knew was there and is just starting to reveal its potential.” he said.

Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters on 15 December.
