According to THR, yesterday (Saturday) Marvel Studios screen-tested the following 6 young actors for the role of Spider-Man: Tom Holland (The Impossible), Asa Butterfield (Hugo and Ender’s Game), Judah Lewis (this autumn’s Demolition), Matthew Lintz (Pixels), Charlie Plummer (Boardwalk Empire) and Charlie Rowe (Red Band Society).

The tests conclude a worldwide search in which the producers considered over one and a half thousand boys from around the world, “narrowing them down to the final six only in the last two weeks or so”, meaning that prior reports stating Asa Butterfield was offered the role were untrue, as it is only now that Marvel are at the stage of making a decision.

THR notes that “One source, however, cautioned there is a slim chance that Marvel won’t like any of their choices and could keep looking.”
