Danish actor, Mads Mikkelsen came close to appearing in Thor: The Dark World before his schedule for TV’s Hannibal took him out of contention. But it seems Marvel will get their man afterall as Variety reports that he’s in early talks to join Doctor Strange.
Exactly what he’ll be up to if he does take the job has yet to be discovered, though it looks likely that he’ll be another potential threat to Benedict Cumberbatch’s title character.
Dr. Stephen Strange starts his story as a selfish New York surgeon who loses his professional skills in a car crash. After falling on hard times, he ends up in the care of a mystical healer known as the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), and learns to tap into psychic and magical powers. In recognition of his selfless efforts to thwart evil fellow disciple Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), he’s taught the mystical arts and sets out to defeat other shady sorcerers and various villains.
Doctor Strange hits screens on October 28, 2016.
