In a Q&A event reported on by Star Wars News Net, co-writer Lawrence Kasdan has revealed that shooting on the Han Solo Star Wars anthology film will begin in January 2017. When asked if fans should be excited, he responds:

“Oh, I think so! You know, Chris Miller and Phil Lord are going to direct it. They’re great, funny and imaginative and we’ve had a great time together. My son [Jon] and I wrote the script and Chris and Phil are working on it and they’re about to move to London to start shooting in January. And it should be fun.”

The actor reportedly cast in the role of the young Han Solo is Alden Ehrenreic, who recently starred in the Coen brothers’ Hail Caesar! Kasdan says the movie is scheduled to release in May 2018, stating ‘Han will come before Episode 9.’
