Hot off the American success of John Wick and soon starring in the Eli Roth chiller Knock Knock, Keanu Reeves will be furthering his journey into reborn coolness with The Neon Demon. The movie will be the next film from Nicolas Winding Refn, famous for Drive and Only God Forgives, and will concern the exploits of a girl who ‘finds herself in a terrifying predicament with her survival hanging in the balance’, if the vague plot details so far given are anything to go by. Reeves will be joining Elle Fanning, and also announced is Christina Hendricks. The Neon Demon sounds like a passion project for Refn, who has stated, ‘One morning I woke and realised I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty.’ If that – and the fact that Reeves is now on board – is not enough to get you excited, we don’t know what is. Filming on The Neon Demon begins at the end of March.
