It’s been announced that Suicide Squad‘s Jared Leto will play art icon, Andy Warhol, in his next film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Leto will portray Warhol in a biopic penned by acclaimed writer Terrence Winter (The Wolf of Wall Street).
Andy Warhol is best known for launching the Pop Art movement in the 1960’s. Openly gay, his innovative fashion made him a superstar before he passed away in 1987 at the age of 58.
He has already been played on the big screen many times before by the likes of David Bowie (Basquiat), Guy Pearce (Factory Girl) and Bill Hader (Men in Black III).
The film will be titled Warhol and based on the 1989 book “Warhol: The Biography” by Victor Bockris. Michael De Luca (Captain Phillips) will produce the film alongside Leto, with a director soon to be announced.
