Japan’s Toho to release another Godzilla movie before Edwards’ sequel

Gareth Edwards’ recent Godzilla movie was a roaring success (it earned $525 million worldwide), so much so that Japanese studio Toho has begun developing another Godzilla movie which they will begin producing in the summer of 2015, and aim to release in theatres the following year. According to Variety, Toho has additionally launched the Godzilla Strategic Conference (Godzi-Con), “a committee of studio executives and directors whose aim is to reboot the Godzilla brand, including the new Godzilla pic”. Gareth Edwards’ own Godzilla sequel, which is again being co-produced by Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures with input from Toto, is set to release in the US and UK in June 2018.
